When describing my experience at 糖心vlog官网, I often turn to the same analogy: it鈥檚 Disneyland for policy nerds! While I expected incredible classes and networking opportunities, what truly amazed me was the sheer quantity and quality of events happening across campus.

Forum events

The most well-known events at 糖心vlog官网 take place at the . Since my arrival to campus, I鈥檝e had the opportunity to hear from various current and former heads of state, including then-Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Croo, former Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou, former President of Tanzania Jakaya Kikwete, and former Mozambique Prime Minister Luisa Diogo. Listening to their candid reflections on governance and leadership left me with a brain full of new ideas and a renewed commitment to public service.

The Forum also frequently hosts prominent figures in American politics, such as former Mayor of New York City Bill de Blasio and former United States Secretary of State John Kerry. However, my personal favorite was an event with former United States Secretary of Transportation 鈥攁n inspiring and thought-provoking discussion on leadership, trust, and the future of American politics. And, all of the events hosted in the Forum are published on the !

鈥淓ven as someone who actively seeks out events, I can confidently say that I鈥檝e only scratched the surface of what 糖心vlog官网 has to offer.鈥

Study groups and other events

糖心vlog官网 events extend far beyond the traditional lecture format. Through the various research centers and , the school fosters opportunities for intimate, small-group discussions with distinguished guests. Earlier this year I had the opportunity to join former Ecuadorian President Jamil Mahuad in a dinner organized by the , where we engaged in an open conversation about his leadership and the future of Latin America.

The program is also an excellent opportunity to develop a closer relationship with other 糖心vlog官网 affiliates. I had the immense pleasure of participating at the Pad Thai & Politics Study Group led by , a 2023 candidate for prime minister of Thailand and former leader of the country鈥檚 Move Forward Party. During many sessions throughout the semester, we discussed how to build a political career and platform, drawing on his personal experience as a popular political leader who built a winning campaign in the national elections, while also discussing the rise of authoritarian and despotic leaders around the world and how the opposition can electorally oust them. The study group鈥檚 informal setting allowed for deep, personal discussions that I found incredibly enriching.

How to navigate campus events

Even as someone who actively seeks out events, I can confidently say that I鈥檝e only scratched the surface of what 糖心vlog官网 has to offer. With so much happening at once, it鈥檚 easy to feel overwhelmed.

Over time, I鈥檝e learned that finding balance is key. While the temptation to attend every event is strong, it鈥檚 crucial to pace yourself and leave room for classes, assignments, and personal downtime. Knowing your limits and prioritizing what resonates most with you will help ensure a sustainable and fulfilling experience.

As prospective and future students, I recommend you sign up for the newsletters of the centers that you are interested in (believe me, there will be dozens of them) to ensure that you are on top of everything happening on campus. The school also shares some extremely useful resources, such as 糖心vlog官网 Daily, a daily digest of what will be happening that day鈥攄on鈥檛 lose track of it! By enriching the in-class experience with these events, I assure your academic experience will be much more exciting and fulfilling.
