How can data and AI support leaders and decision-makers? Case studies on elections, polling, climate change, economic growth, education, public health, corruption, autonomous vehicles, justice and policing provide a powerful range of insights.  Acknowledging the rapidly expanding use of generative AI, we debate its role in the workforce and illustrate the potential for bias in machine learning. With the goal of understanding technical reports, the course shows policy makers how to collect data, make data-based judgements, interpret regression analyses, and manage project evaluations. Data and AI are changing the world for the better—while simultaneously creating an urgent need for leaders to address the challenges they pose.

The mathematical background required is kept to a minimum. A calculator and Excel are sufficient. May not be taken in addition to API-201 and HGSE S040.
