Solving many if not most sustainability challenges requires coordination and cooperation amongst a wide variety of actors with diverse interests, resources, and abilities. Governance for sustainability therefore requires improving our capacity to work together between many different types of actors and across different scales of governance. This seminar will highlight the expertise of three leading practitioners who know what it takes to build the capacity to govern cooperatively (i.e. to build and maintain collaborative relationships) in pursuit of sustainability. The seminar will feature: (CEO Level4International, formerly VP of Strategic Partnerships at AGRA) who will reflect on her extensive experience facilitating strategic partnerships with governments, multilateral organizations and businesses to improve livelihoods across 30 African countries; (CEO California Forward) who will speak to her career across the public, private, and non-profit sectors bringing diverse stakeholders together to create place-based strategies that prioritize sustainable, resilient, and inclusive economic prosperity; and (Executive Director P4G at World Resources Institute) who will reflect on her experience advancing effective partnerships and supporting climate entrepreneurs to become investment ready so they can provide locally led solutions in food, water and energy systems. The seminar will be moderated by (Senior Research Fellow, Sustainability Science Program, Harvard Kennedy School). This seminar is the sixth in a virtual bi-weekly series on Building Capacity for Sustainable Development. The series seeks to integrate insights from scholars and practitioners on how to get things done in tackling the multiple intertwined crises of the Anthropocene: climate change, extinction, war, inequality, and rising authoritarianism.
