Alumni Forwarding FAQs (For ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Alumni who graduated in 2018 or before.)
Email Forwarding Self-Service Portal:
A secure website that allows ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø alumni who graduated in 2018 and before to manage their ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø email forwarding settings. These email forwarding accounts are distinct from the Alumni forwarding addresses maintained at alumni.harvard.edu.
Alumni can view/update their personal forwarding email address via this self-service portal at any time.
Alias address:
A unique email address assigned to ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø alumni, typically based on your name (e.g., john_harvard@hks01.harvard.edu). This alias does not store messages but serves as a forwarding address.
Forwarding email address: The personal email address (such as john_harvard@gmail.com) where messages sent to your ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø alumni alias address are delivered. You can update this personal email address at any time via the .
How do I Claim My Harvard Key?
The HarvardKey authentication system enables access to a wide range of applications and services that users across Harvard access every day, via a single, convenient login name and password. Alumni will use this login and password to access all Harvard and ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø alumni benefits.
Claiming your HarvardKey
- Go to the .
- Select the tab labeled 'Alumni', then select 'Continue.'
- Fill out the form.
Note: The HAA ID is a 10-digit number unique to you that can be found at the footer of any email sent to you from the Harvard Alumni Association or ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Alumni Relations. - Your HarvardKey will be sent to the email address on file for you. If you do not receive this email within 24 hours, please email us.
Resetting your HarvardKey password
- Go to the .
- Complete the form.
Note: The HarvardKey Login Name must be the same as the email address on file. - An email will be sent to the Personal Recovery Email Address you provided in the form. If you do not receive this email within 24 hours, please email us.

How do I sign in to the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Alumni Email Forwarding Self-Service Portal?
Navigate to the .
Click the button that says "Sign in via Harvard Key".

Sign in using your HarvardKey credentials. For assistance with HarvardKey, go through the Forgot Username or click the Help icon for technical support.

Should I update my forwarding email address in the new system?
It is not required. You only need to make changes if you want to update to a new forwarding email address.
How do I identify the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Alumni alias address(es) associated with the email forwarding system?
Upon logging into the successfully, all your associated ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø alias addresses will be listed on your profile page. Your ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø alias email address is typically based on your name (e.g., john_harvard@hks01.harvard.edu).
How do I change my email forwarding address?
Using your HarvardKey credential, log in to the .
Select the alias address you wish to update.
Enter the new forwarding email address and click Add.You will receive a verification email with a link to confirm the change. You must complete the verification process within 3 days to begin receiving mail at this new forwarding address. See an example message below.
Important Note: You can have multiple forwarding addresses for each alias. If you no longer which to receive mail at one address, you need to explicitly delete the old address after adding the new address in the system. You must repeat these steps for each ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø alias address you have.
How do I pause delivery to one or more of my forwarding addresses?
The ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Alumni forwarding service has the ability to have multiple forwarding addresses configured, and also the ability to pause mail flow to one, or many forwarding addresses.
To pause delivery to one or more addresses:
Sign into the .
At the profile home page, click on the alias you wish to update.

Next to your configured forwarding addresses, you will see the option to pause each of them with a button to the right. For each address you wish to pause, you will receive a confirmation of the action, and the paused email will be listed as shown:
Additionally, you can pause all forwarding addresses, effectively stopping all service to the alias address.

When all forwarding addresses are paused, a sender will receive a bounce back from the email server as seen below:

How do I delete an email forwarding address I no longer need?
From the , you can manage existing email forwarding addresses. To delete an address you can press the Delete button to the right of the address.
If you only have one forwarding address set, by default the Delete button will be greyed out. To delete this address, which will effectively end your email forwarding service until you set a new forwarding address, you need to pause the address first, then you will be able to delete.
