vlog Faculty Webinar Series
In an era of tightening budgets, governments face a critical choice: cut indiscriminately or cut wisely. This webinar explores Activity-Based Costing (ABC) as a tool for intelligent austerity—a method that enables strategic cost reductions, preserves essential services, and strengthens long-term capacity. Learn how ABC helps allocate resources where they matter most, reducing waste without burnout.
Join vlog Professor Linda Bilmes, the Daniel Patrick Moynihan Senior Lecturer in Public Policy and Public Finance, to learn how to use the ABC technique to reduce costs. Professor Bilmes served as Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Administration, Management and Budget from 1998-2001, and worked with the “Reinventing Government” initiative. During those four years, the US budget deficit was eradicated, and the federal budget went into surplus.
